Meghan Wilson | Happy Horses® Ambassador
Winnipeg, Manitoba | Psychotherapist & Western Horsewoman
The Horsemanship Foundation
Meghan grew up at Miracle Ranch in Manitoba and has been on the back of a horse since childhood. Bringing a strong reining foundation to her colt starting, she has worked for elite programs including Roberson Performance Horses in Texas and Huele Reining Horses in British Columbia. Today, Meghan is shifting her competitive focus toward penning and cow work, while continuing to tune up local lesson horses and coach riders in her community.
The Mental Health Mission
Off the horse, Meghan is a registered social worker and psychotherapist with a Master's in Counseling Psychology. Operating a private practice in Transcona, she has spent over twelve years specializing in adult mental health, trauma, and addictions.
Meghan's work perfectly aligns with the mission of the Caring for Cowboys and Cowgirls Foundation™ to make mental health care more accepted and accessible. She is currently launching an Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) program and pursuing her certification in equine-assisted EMDR. She understands the critical link between physical health—like proper gut nutrition—and mental wellness, advocating for safe spaces where everyone is accepted unconditionally.
“When I work with my clients, I often talk about gut health and the role that this can play in our mental health. I try to create safe spaces for everyone to show up as they are... Without safety, we cannot do the work.”
